Hello, all. I hope this is permissible to post here, as I've not spent much time in these forums. Just a quick word of caution to fellow writers and filmmakers using IMDbPro to vet reps:
I recently discovered that someone I had trusted to represent my work was operating under an alias, with a criminal record, and using IMDbPro to pad a fake management company profile. He created a company, added a dozen “clients”—many of whom have no bios, photos, or credits—and even listed himself as a client, under his real name, until removing it once people started asking questions.
This individual used IMDbPro to present an image of legitimacy that didn’t exist, just enough to attract emerging writers who are hungry for representation.
I’ve submitted a formal complaint to IMDbPro support, and I’m not naming names publicly here—but if you’re dealing with someone offering vague promises, script submissions that you'll never hear about, or referencing military intelligence and other questionable industry ties, feel free to DM me.
