Tony, I couldn't find much that's public domain, as in free to watch on YouTube. Most of the clips that are available are mostly comedic moments. So, not a fair comparison, but here are a couple of links:

Some call the technique talking to camera, some call it breaking the 4th wall.

Probably the most famous example of a character talking to the audience for a lot longer than a few seconds is Hamlet, To Be or Not To Be. A monologue by definition, but at least it's drama and not comedy.

That one works, Tony. And wow! I never would have guessed, but adding that extra camera shot makes all the difference in the world. I'm really impressed. This is a beautiful piece of art. Good job!

Meh, I gave up on that site a while ago. It's not so much social media, more like spam media. At least for me, with a free account. I keep it open in case I ever change my mind. For now, I can't be bothered.
