You can now add ScriptHop Packet links to script listings. The process is pretty self explanatory. ScriptHop is new on the scene but industry backed and brings a whole new way of sharing script content. I'd be crazy not to give members the option to add links to it. The site is invitation only at this time (I'll be sharing any invitation links I get in the Rockstar Resources feed). There's a lot to take in but I'm hoping to have a review/guide in place soon.

You can see an example of it working on my Blueberry Special listing. Just click on View ScriptHop Packet.

Interesting. I hope for your sake some of that info (line/word count etc.) auto-generated from the file. lol Do you suspect this site may be utilized by decision makers either now or down the line? Thanks for the 411 in any regard, I like the idea of character quotes next to actor archetypes.

I think it's likely to dominate the studio side of things, Derek. It streamlines so much. Yes, it pulls a lot of data out of the pdf file.

Aight then! I entered my e-mail at the site for one of the codes whenever they expand out.

I remember looking into ScriptHop, before ditching out because I don't have rights to photographs of John Goodman.

Isn't there language in the user agreement about that? (I could be thinking of a different service.)

I'm not sure what service you are thinking of there, D.E.

Thanks CJ! Managed to snag one! Pretty cool how the site extracts dialogue from various characters etc.

Yeah, the pdf extraction stuff is very clever. I shared this on Reddit and it got downvoted so much I had to delete the post LOL!

CJ-- Huh? for real? But it's a great marketing tool and currently free, what's not to like? I dunno about reddit, get a sinking feeling there, causes my conspiracy grey matter to twitch.

Thanks a lot for posting the codes CJ! Was a bit late to the party but I managed to get in (using the second code on the list). Really excited to mess around with this today.

Cool! Glad you are having fun with it.

Screenwriting communities can be strange places. Tell people you'll read their script for a price and they'll crawl over one another to hand over their cash. Offer people something for free but they'll be a first adopter and need to put in some work and they'll chase you out like a heathen.

I was laughed out the room for years about this site and all I was trying to do was offer free exposure.

For any of you fine people who used the link, how long roughly did it take for you to get your verification email? I believe it won't let you share packets until you're verified but I have yet to get any email.

I think it's got a lot to do with human nature. People are raised to be skeptical of anything that is advertised as free. It's the voice in the back of our head going "well... what's the catch?"

'No such thing as a free lunch' and' too good to be true' are cliches for a reason, so when people see "Hey I'll read / host your script for free," their minds start concocting a list of terrible reasons anyone would want to do that; usually involving 'they're gonna steal my idea!!' and 'there's obviously a scam here somewhere.'

Also, the concept of 'more expensive = better' is pretty much at the core of our society. If Rolex stood on the a street corner tomorrow handing out free watches a lot of people would probably assume they're fake and not take one precisely because it's free.

Just rambling now, but keep fighting the good fight.

You're spot on there, Connor. Something I had to come to accept early on with Script Revolution is that free is seen as toxic in this industry. A lot of people want glamour and exclusivity. They want to feel Hollywood. That effect actually worked out well for this site as it kept a lot of dreamers out.

So I know each separate link is supposed to record each time someone opens/reads/downloads the project. Currently I have two separate links (One for ScriptRev and one for friends and family) but they are both recording the exact same number of reads and downloads which I know can't be right. Could this be a bug or have I somehow not set up my links properly?

Otherwise this is an insanely cool thing they've built here and I really hope it catches on. I liked the process so much I'm already importing a second script. There's something very satisfying about filling in boxes...

Interesting about the possible bug, I've not actually tried multiple links even though I suggest using them for tracking.

Give it a try, I'm quite certain it is a bug now after setting up two new dead links that I didn't post anywhere - both have the exact same number as the two I have shared.

Edit: I have emailed them enquiring about the issue. I'll post again when they get back to me.

Bump for update! I got in touch with them and they responded super promptly, so big ups on the customer service. Yes it was a bug which is now fixed. Every link should now show their stats separately. ALSO I came across another bug which they confirmed and are in the process of fixing but in the mean time, ensure that none of your custom links contain any apostrophes. As of right now they will cause the link not to load.

Regarding Photos; I think what Mr. Jackson meant about John Goodman, is that on ScriptHop it asks who you envision in the roles, and then you can add their photos. I have avoided this part of the feature as it might be confused with "attached talent" by some -

It literally says "Actor Wishlist" below it. I showed this to a producer and he got it all straight away. Given that it's supposed to be a tool used directly between professionals, I don't see an issue. Good thing is, everybody gets to make their own call.

Correct, but it says that after you submit them - but not when you are first presented to the page. After I wrote the post I discovered them on the link for your script that you provided.

Okay, fair enough. I guess there's going to be teething problems with something so complex. I know they're having issues with writers contacting them who don't quite understand what they're doing and mistaking ScriptHop for a script hosting site. It's going to take a lot of adaption.

They're certainly not messing about.

I particularly like this addition to their FAQ.

Q :Is this a bulletin board system like InkTip?

No. We do not have any backend entry for industry people to discover scripts. If you're looking for that, we like the people behind Script Revolution.
