I am a screenwriting aspirant with many years writing and reading scripts, watching and studying films, and many completed feature length scripts. (14 so far). I was About two years into a communication arts degree when the ADHD devil on my shoulder told me there were more exciting things to do than sit in a classroom.
I spent years thereafter writing prose, poetry, short stories, and a couple of novels. I had some prose published in small poetry journals. I was co-founder and contributor of a counter-cultural "zine" called Horribly Awry. which had a few thousand readers for awhile, and I piqued an agent's interest for one of my novels, but alas she couldn't find a market for it.
I settled on screnplays because I: A) love movies (especially dark, edgy, thriller/horror/sci-fi stuff) And B) I think visually, my creative process is all pictures and imagry, and as such, writing for a visual medium just feels right for me, as so little in my life does.
For actual paper money that I can exchange for goods and services, I work for temp agencies at various noisy smelly, (feequently dangerous) entry level jobs that are of little relevance here, but provide good character/story material.)
I have a lot of completed feature length scripts, yet precious little interaction with - or feedback from - anyone who works in the industry. My subjective and solitary experience with the stories in my universe, as much as I love it, tells me nothing about how good they are, or how they can improve.
Reader's Digest version: I need to get out more. Hence my desire for a place like this. Thank you and goodnight.
