He co-founded and ran The Maile School, one of the southeast’s most highly regarded talent training facilities for over 20 years before its sale in 2004. The school's alumni include Mandy Moore, Spencer Locke, Norm Lewis, Arielle Kebbel and two Miss Americas.

His love of film has led to over forty screenplays bearing his name as writer, including “THE FINAL SEASON” starring Sean Astin, Powers Boothe, Tom Arnold and Rachael Leigh Cook. Directed by David Mickey Evans, “The Sandlot,” TFS premiered at the Tribeca Film Fesitval, hit 1,100 theaters nationwide via Yari Film Group, and was released on DVD by SONY in ‘08. In 2010 he wrote and produced the family comedy/drama “MAYOR CUPCAKE”, which stars Lea Thompson, Judd Nelson, Zoey Deutch (her first film), Dorian Harewood and Frankie Faison. Thompson portrays a cupcake baker and mom who is inadvertantly elected Mayor of the troubled town of Bridgeville, Delaware. “CUPCAKE” was released through Moving Pictures Film and TV and Phase IV and currently airs worldwide. In 2009 Art brought the true story property “LETTERS TO GOD” to a Florida production team at Possibility Pictures and rewrote the script which was ultimately released on 900 screens by Vivendi in 2010 and received a 2011 Movie Guide nomination for “Best Film for a Family Audience.” D'Alessandro's “SHE DRIVES ME CRAZY”, a script about sisters reconciling after years of estrangement, was produced in Canada by Shaftesbury Films, starring “The OC” and “CSI” actress Melinda Clarke and produced by Kelly Rowan. In November of 2010 SDMC won Canada’s version of the Emmy, a Gemini Award, for “Best TV Movie”. “ZZYZX” (starring Kenny Johnson of “The Shield” "SWAT" & “Bates Motel”) which Art wrote and co-produced took second place honors at the 2006 Cenflo Film Festival and Nashville’s Fylmz Festival while winning the Miami International Film Festival. The dark and twisted thriller is available on DVD. His 1999 family comedy feature “ALL SHOOK UP” (Sarah Chalke and the late Frank Gorshin) was an official selection of both the Florida Film Festival and the Aspen Comedy Arts Festival.

He’s also co-produced recent indie films including “LEFT OF CENTER" and was associate producer on the soon-to-be-released thriller "SUBURBAN NIGHTMARE."  Art marked his directorial debut in 2008 with the award-winning short “THE MESS” which toured the festival circuit with acceptances to the Enzian Film Slam, Delray Beach Film Festival, Short Circuit Traveling Film Festival, Indie Fest USA, Charlotte Film Festival, Rappahannock Independent Film Festival, Hollywood East Film Festival, CENFLO and the Ft.
