Barbara McCormick-Thomas is a comedy writer based in Dallas, Texas. Her films have been screened in festivals throughout the US and the United Kingdom and her plays have been performed locally and in Canada. She has also written for the nationally syndicated top forty radio program, Kidd Kraddick in the Morning. In 2018, she wrote, produced and directed a parody web series. "The Amehngers" avaiable on Youtube and Stareable.
Barbara began writing screenplays in 2012. Her short screenplay INSPIRATION won the Willamette Writers Script to Screen Competition in 2013. Retitled COFFEE, TABLE, BOOK, the film premiered later that year in Portland, Oregon. In 2014, her short COPY THAT premiered in London and starred Claudia Jessie who now stars in BRIDGERTON on Netflix. COPY THAT won Best Comedic Short at the 2015 SOFIE Awards, was an opening night selection at the National Film Festival for Talented Youth, and was named Film of the Year at the British International Amateur Film Festival in Kent.
Barbara has served a reader for the Austin Film Festival screenplay competition, having placed in the competition in previous years with both feature comedies and comedy pilots.
