Brian Aldrich

My name is Brian Aldrich and I hold an MFA from the UCLA School of Theater, Film & Television. Early in my career I represented actors and writers in a personal management role, but for the past few decades I’ve worked as a Story Analyst/Script Consultant/Reader (see In 1999, I co-founded Poe Forward, a literary arts readers theatre group, which presented three standing room only productions at the Midnight Special Bookstore in Santa Monica: “Poe Funeral,” “Goth Poe,” and “Poe Comedy.” My further work in the Poe world is my screenplay adaptation of Poe's only novel THE NARRATIVE OF ARTHUR GORDON PYM. Poe's novel didn't have a third act, so I researched Poe's original source materials and devised one.

As well as working in production over the years since grad school, I have written and directed a digital feature titled POSTMODERN BLUES, a comedy-drama about baby boomers reaching middle age and set in the 1990’s, which is currently in post-production.

Recently finished a new three act Grand Guignol play, "Madhouse Shenanigans." Trying to get it to the right theater company for the Halloween season. Any suggestions? Want to read it? Let me know. :)
