When I went to college, I found that I loved to write, but I didn't think that it was a smart choice for a profession, so I went the IT route. Today, I'm an IT manager at a global company that pays very well.
In 2016, I suffered a massive stroke that left me paralyzed on my right side and without the ability to speak. Thank God I had a miraculous recovery. My neurologists said that my brain spontaneously repaired the damage, and that I was very lucky. My paralysis went away immediately, but the speaking part was a different story. Today, I live with Aphasia.
I started writing scripts after my stroke as a way to make language make sense again. Writing dialogue was an excellent exercise! This is when I started the Vandecomo series.
The first drafts of my Vandecomo pilot were pretty pitiful, but last year, I submitted my pilot to film festivals/competitions, and it actually won several awards giving me the confidence to take the next step – and this is where I am.
