Generations is loosely based on my  adventures in genealogy, my visits to Ireland, my dabbling in quantum physics, and my experiences growing up in a big Irish Catholic family in South Boston.

Several years ago, while digging in old genealogical records, I found my great grandmother, Anna Moran, an Irish woman who emigrated to the U.S. in the 1870s.

Anna died at age 28, leaving two babies behind. Her brother took her children in and  raised them as his own.

No one in my family ever knew that Anna existed. Until I found her in the archives at  Boston City Hall.

I thought of all those immigrant women, their names never written down, lost to their families, lost to history. Women like Anna. I wanted to write a story for her, and for women like her.

So Anna became Grianne in Generations, her child raised by others, her name forgotten - until her great granddaughter Kate finds her.

My professional writing experience includes more than 20 years writing for Boston-area daily newspaper, The Patriot Ledger.  I published the novel Magic Happens, and have freelanced for a wide variety of clients, writing web sites, newsletters, annual reports and other materials.

I sold TV and radio advertising, and was national marketing director for Project HOT Car, a TV promotion I sold to TV stations in 20+ U.S. markets.

I am also a writer for Extra Extra Show Daily, a daily publication of the NATPE convention in Miami Beach. (National Association of TV Program Execs)

For seven years, I have interviewed producers, actors, show runners and TV execs who all told me they wanted fresh new content with global appeal and strong female characters.

I took their advice and wrote Generations.
