I’m a software engineer living in Los Angeles, CA who makes new technology by day and writes about weird science at night. I specialize in, but am not limited to, artificial intelligence, the intersection of politics and STEM, astrobiology, conspiracy theories, and data crunching. I also do podcasts and radio because I'm told I have a real face for it.

My writing has appeared in BusinessWeek, Discovery News/Seeker, HowStuffWorks, io9, and Rantt Media, and I have a weekly segment on Canada's top rated late night talk show The Shift to talk about some of it.

Like any self-respecting nerd I also dabble in science fiction, channeling my knowledge of technology and science into building more realistic future worlds, with maybe just a pinch of anime influences thrown in for good measure.
