Jason Furrate is a writer-director in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He owns Media Furrate, a video production and photography business serving the Gulf South Region.
In 2010, he released the 93-minute feature film, LA-308 Assassin Redemption, a micro-budget feature shot on the Louisiana coast. The film was featured at the Louisiana International Film Festival in 2014 and one of the lead actors, Jerry Leggio, was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award at the event. The film is on Amazon and Apple.
Jason completed the 109-page spy-action screenplay, Traitors, in 2020 and it was recently a Quarter-Finalist in the 2020 ISA Emerging Screenwriter’s competition. The budget is too large for a limited experienced director, so the script is for sale and would make a great pilot for a streaming series.
He is currently developing a feature-length family drama script titled Before I Forget. He plans for this to be his second writing/directing effort.
He has a long career in the local and regional production arena. He was awarded 5 Cable ACE awards for documentary work. He wrote and directed a #1 country music video for the late Billy Joe Royal. He also won an internal NBC Golden Peacock Award for his news promotion campaign created while working at a television station. Jason has had features on CNN and ESPN in the ’80s, he was a creative director at an ad agency and won numerous ADDY Awards in the process.
Jason is married with three children and four grandchildren. He enjoys photography and preaching about healthy eating which is sacrilegious in Louisiana.
