Born in post-apartheid South Africa, raised in Italy, Lauren graduated from UCLA’s prestigious graduate directing program in 2014. Before she left school, she had joined the DGA, having directed second unit on 'Plush', a Catherine Hardwicke ('Thirteen', 'Twilight') feature.
Lauren followed this up with 'City Bus', starring Ahna O’Reilly ('The Help'). Executive produced by James Franco’s Rabbit Bandini as an initiative to help emerging filmmakers, 'City Bus' won Lauren the best director award at the 2017 IFS Festival and best narrative short at the Los Angeles International Underground Film Festival. It was also runner up in the media category of the Script Pipeline First Look contest.
Subsequent projects include 'His 'N' Hers', a first-person POV, interactive video starring celebrity photographer Tyler Shields, and 'Please Don't Come Back From The Moon', James Franco's award-winning feature, which Lauren produced.
Recently, her first-person POV short 'The New Kid' won gold at the California regional ADDYs, while her latest short 'Shoot For The Moon' screened at TIFF Kids, SIFF and Newport Beach film festivals. It was also runner-up in the NatGeo Wild To Inspire contest, with a subsequent screening at the Sun Valley film festival, and the winner of the Social Good category at the AT&T film awards.
In addition to the film awards listed on her IMDB page, Lauren has been a finalist in the Creative World Awards and StoryPros International screenwriting contests.
