Trish MacEnulty's novels, short story collection, children's play, and memoir have been published nationally and internationally. She has won awards or placed in a variety of contests for her screenplays and television pilots. She has a doctorate in creative writing and has taught film and creative writing for longer than she's willing to admit. Personal statement: I grew up in a family of musicians, and yet I possessed not a shred of musical talent. While they played their instruments, I sat on the floor and made up stories using my collection of marbles as characters. In my teens I suffered more than the usual amount of emotional angst, which I soothed by writing terrible poetry. College found me writing "personal" journalism and taking classes in TV production. After college I had an internship with a small film production company. At $100 a week, I was surely the cheapest writer working in Miami. Since then I have spent my life finding avenues for writing from radio shows to feature films to novels and everything in between. I'm especially intrigued by true stories or stories based on real events.
