'All Tied Up' is a classic fish-out-water, relationship-led character-based comedy-drama in the vein of classics like Fargo, Planes, Trains & Automobiles and Clockwise... with more than a generous sprinkling of Celtic grit, set in the breath-taking Scottish Highlands.
Raymond, a Lebanese Accountant and his English wife, Rose, are enjoying their holiday in the Scottish countryside when they become hostages in a low-level remote shop robbery. Things get quickly out of hand and the robbers Ewan, a 'reformed' ex-con and Dallas, a struggling mum, end up kidnapping the two tourists so they can’t give away their identity. In their attempt to escape, Ewan and Dallas get separated, Dallas with Raymond and Ewan with Rose.
Both new and unlikely couples have to work with each other… Rose and Raymond hatch their own escape plans… but Ewan and Dallas just need to get to the ferry – and Dallas needs to get to the bank by 11am to pay a deposit to secure the appeal for her son’s forced adoption.
The stakes are high, but the newly formed couples have their challenges. Kidnapper Ewan and tourist Rose seemingly have nothing in common. She's posh, he's rough and the seething hatred is mutual. Raymond is soft, cautious and nervous... Dallas, fiery and troubled... they are matches made in hell or will they find a way to work together?
The two “odd couple” pairs have to navigate their way in the Scottish highlands, while being pursued by a heavily pregnant copper, Geeta and her over-enthusiastic, action film loving partner, Harriet (Harry). Geeta just wants to get home to a warm bath and her much needed maternity leave – Harry want’s the action and is delighted her usual boring routine now involves kidnap, robbery and at some point, stolen tofu. It’s the crime spree she’s being dying to be involved in since she became a detective.
Things go from bad to worse for both of the newly formed couples. Stumbling out of the wilderness, Ewan and Rose come across a manor house where they are ironically kidnapped by an elderly, mildly incompetent, violent, permanently squabbling father and son burglary team.
Meanwhile Dallas and Raymond come across two repressed camper workmates on a corporate team-bonding trip – and turn them into mortal enemies when Dallas decides to steal their wallet and torches to make her escape – the only thing she’s thinking of is her son and that 11am deadline.
Each kidnapper and kidnapped couple learn more about each other along their journey than they did with their current partner, and this will change their lives forever. Raymond can see how vulnerable Dallas is and despite his predicament, wants to help her - and in turn, she sees that he’s not like the other men in her life – he’s reliable, loyal, helpful even…
Rose sees in Ewan the adventure she yearns for, the kind of man that’s dangerous and adventurous and… well, rather well built! Ewan likes her too – she’s actually ballsy, and not afraid to look after herself – there’s a mutual attraction neither want to admit.
So with no phones and terribly lost in the wild, can the two pairs of kidnappers and kidnapped survive their pursuers, hungry wild animals and each other and can they get to their destination on time?
