Synopsis/Details
THE DUKE was once the greatest cat burglar the world had ever seen. But now, he's just old. Resigned to doing odd jobs for mobsters and other low-class criminals, he needs something to reinvigorate his boring, now menial life. By simple chance, he gets his opportunity to rejuvenate his lust for the hunt when his butler stumbles upon an article in the newspaper, revealing to him an old artifact that has eluded The Duke for ages. It is being held in a bank, awaiting transfer out of the country in a few days. Feeling his vigor returning, The Duke decides to don his cat-suit and make history one last time... Meanwhile… CHARLIE, a sloppy, lazy airport security guard, gets brutally beaten in the airport bathroom by a group of goons that he owes money to. Instead of taking his weak paycheck to make an attempt to pay off his severe debts to a loan shark, he tries to double what little cash he has left by betting at a local race track, where he subsequently loses all of his money. The unlucky soul has a run-in with the nasty old loan shark at the track and, following another severe beatdown, he is given twenty four hours to find the money. He gathers what money he can, and instead of using THAT money to try to pay the loan shark, he buys a gun. And after watching a clip from movie on television he gets a fantastic idea: Rob a bank to pay of his debts… MEANWHILE… VINCENT RUSSO is fresh out of prison and back to do one last bank job, despite the fact that he is being watched constantly by the police, namely an ornery detective named SLOANE. He is informed of a fourteen million dollar opportunity by his old friend and boss MR. COSTA, who proceeds to tell him that in order to get the cash and be gone, he will need to break into the bank not once, but twice: Once to bug the bank's security system which is all firewalled internally, and again to get the money. Mr. Costa handpicks a trio of goons with their own unique "abilities" to help him with the score. They go over the plan and execute the first break-in with minimal flaws other than a tense car chase through the city streets that sends one of them to jail. Everything is in place for the heist to begin… The thieves go into the bank, armed to the teeth. Everything is going smoothly, until they get the vault open. Inside, is The Duke, dangling from a hole he cut in the ceiling, clutching the Double Eagle coin in his fingers! Out of nowhere, Charlie bursts into the room, waving his cheap gun around, but quickly realizes that the bank is already being robbed and the real criminals have found themselves in a tense standoff with Detective Sloane. Charlie heads for the hills and is shot by his own gun as all hell breaks loose in the bank. Most of the thieves are killed or arrested. The only winner winds up being The Duke, who suddenly stands in the crowd watching all the madness. Before he fades into the crowd, he gives his greatest achievement, "The Double Eagle Coin" to a little girl, who proceeds to drop it into a wishing well, where it fades away amongst hundreds of other coins.

The Writer: Erik D Griffin

Screenwriter. Have been writing since the 80's, decided to start writing for film off and on in 2006. Although I like to write my own original material, I am always ready and willing to do a rewrite or a feature script or collaborate from an Idea you may have. I have also adapted short stories and novellas into feature film scripts (at the requests of the authors) as well. Currently I am working a full-time job, being a husband and a daddy to two so my life is filled with Martial Arts lessons, homework and soccer practice but I still make the time to sit at my desk and write during any down-time I have (very late nights, very early mornings, weekends). I figure if I keep the fingers moving… Go to bio
