Synopsis/Details:

Amna, a stylish and imaginative young black woman, has always lived in her head. Fresh out of college and unsure of
her next steps, she takes a temporary job working with her dad, and an internship while navigating friendships,
romance and the pressures of adulthood. But while her real life is uncertain, her mind is a world of its own : one where
every fleeting attraction transforms into a larger-than-life fantasy, complete with its own soundtrack.
Her sharp-witted best friends challenge her delusions, while her ever-opinionated siblings constantly pull her back to
reality. As she encounters three very different men, each reflecting a version of the romance she's imagined, Amna
begins to question whether her daydreams are helping her dream bigger or keeping her from truly living.
The deeper she falls into fantasy, the harder it becomes to distinguish real from imagination. She finds herself lost in a
whirlwind of heightened emotions, grand gestures and picture-perfect scenarios. As her daydream escalates, she's
forced to confront a difficult truth : Is she in control of her fantasies or are they controlling her?
Funny, heartfelt and visually stunning, Daydream is a fresh, stylish romcom that blends humour, fashion and music with
the all-consuming nature of maladaptive daydreaming.

The Writer: Réna Cécile

Hi, I’m Rena Cecile, a screenwriter passionate about telling emotionally grounded, visually expressive stories that center identity, imagination, and self-discovery. I write characters who feel real and flawed, often navigating inner worlds, cultural pressures, and the desire to break free. My current feature, Daydream, explores maladaptive daydreaming through a Gen Z lens. It’s a personal and bold project that blends raw emotion with surreal visual elements, and I’m excited about where it’s headed. I’m looking to connect with producers, directors, and collaborators who believe in powerful storytelling with depth, edge, and a fresh perspective. I’m also open to representation and industry...
