Myja Beecham, a recent college grad, is on his way to his west coast adventure and decides to stop first in Providence, Rhode Island, to meet at last his biological father. Justice James Myron Gustafson provides him neither the reception nor the closure Myja had envisioned. Myja cannot get out of Providence fast enough, and he hops on his motorcycle and guns it outta there. A major accident stops traffic in both directions, and Myja starts to think maybe he should just give up on the idea of adventure, on the idea of his dreams, and turns around. He comes across a hitchhiker, just a few years older than he is, and the guy's story plants the idea in Myja that the half-lived life is a life not lived at all. This young man goes west.
