Synopsis/Details

1840, the Upper Amazon. Abel, a failed poet and revolutionary, wanders into the Amazon to lose himself. Instead he finds a pocket rain forest and Rima the Bird Girl. She speaks no known language and communicates with birds. The local Indians fear her as a "Daughter of the Demon". Her grandfather, atoning for old sins, guards her closely. Smitten, Abel sets out to learn her mysterious origins, a journey that leads to the remote mountains of Riolama. But tragedy awaits there and back home as the Indians plot Rima's destruction... Based on the classic and lyrical "Green Mansions: A Romance of the Tropical Forest" by W. H. Hudson, an English naturalist, 1904, public domain.
