The Writer: Lauren Hoekstra

Born in post-apartheid South Africa, raised in Italy, Lauren graduated from UCLA’s prestigious graduate directing program in 2014. Before she left school, she had joined the DGA, having directed second unit on 'Plush', a Catherine Hardwicke ('Thirteen', 'Twilight') feature. Lauren followed this up with 'City Bus', starring Ahna O’Reilly ('The Help'). Executive produced by James Franco’s Rabbit Bandini as an initiative to help emerging filmmakers, 'City Bus' won Lauren the best director award at the 2017 IFS Festival and best narrative short at the Los Angeles International Underground Film Festival. It was also runner up in the media category of the Script Pipeline First Look contest... Go to bio
