Although this script is listed for sale, it is unlikely that I would allow anyone to produce it for at least a couple of years. It is likely that I will be shooting a shorter version (Renamed "Heist") at 22 pages in 2022. For that version, I removed all the build-up before the robbery (Sadly, including Mike Tyson) and made minor adjustments to make it feel more like a real short as opposed to a feature stuffed into a smaller container.
This is a story about Dennis Theodore, a bored bank assistant manager. He's been working at his job for 18 years. He plays Call of Duty every night with a mysterious partner, that calls himself DevilDog. One regular, ordinary Thursday, a group of bank robbers takes over the branch. Dennis is taken hostage in the heist and then lots of funny stuff happens. OK, some funny stuff happens before that too, but most of the funny stuff is during and after the robbery. I'm obviously not going to tell you how it ends, or even introduce the other characters. However, having won a dozen or so "Best Screenplay" awards as well as multiple quarter/semifinalist positionings, you can be assured that it's pretty good.
This is also going to be expanded into a feature script. Just don't ask me when, because I have no idea.
This is what Slamdance says about the script: "Last Thursday is a strongly comedic bank heist thriller with a great final twist that the reader doesn’t see coming. The dialogue is witty, expressive and full of grit (especially in the bank robbers’ dialogue), and the lead characters are vividly rendered and feel well developed."
While I have this listed as "For Sale" before even talking about money, I would need to know that there was adequate funding available. This short would cost between $50-75k to make. It was not written to ever be produced as a short.
