EDIT: REVISED
I have added about 2.5 pages of backstory and made a few changes. It is still essentially the same story (90%) but since my restrictions were lifted once the entry was officially accepted, I decided to see if I could add the missing pieces. It would be considered a "single moment" story, where it is basically real-time, with only one small gap of time while they are traveling.
Original listing:
This was my 2020 Round 1 entry for the NYC Midnight Short Screenplay Challenge.
The competition has very strict rules and parameters that must be followed. Considering the story, this could easily have been 10 or 15 pages, but the hard limit was 5 pages total. I wrote the first draft in about 1.5 hours. I revised it 4 times total with input from one other person, mostly to make sure the story flowed.
There was a lot more that I could have done with this had I more room to work with. I originally had a nickname for one of the ladies mentioned, but I realized that there would need to be context and backstory that I just didn't have room for. (EDIT: I added that back when I extended it to its current ~8 pages)
This script placed 3rd of 35 in my group.
My requirements were:
Genre: Drama
Location: A bed & breakfast
Item: A cactus
This script is available for option provided certain requirements are met.
