Synopsis/Details:

Jason is a struggling architect living in Santa Monica with his aspiring actress girlfriend Emma. When money gets so tight that Jason regularly steals nondairy creamer from a local cafe, he falls back on his former career as a grocery store manager. After a successful interview at a corporate grocery chain, an elderly homeless woman named Marilyn enlists Jason's help to buy her a loaf of bread, since the store manager has a policy of denying her purchases, even though she uses her own money. This sends Jason into a crisis of conscience, as he foregoes this new job opportunity with discount groceries, and doubles down on his artistic talents. While sketching at the very cafe where he steals creamer, the manager Asia offers Jason a side-gig to do the store's chalkboard art. As Jason deliberates lowering his standards yet again, Asia informs him that perks include nondairy creamer.

The Writer: Bill Neary

With recent accolades and a short play produced, I continue developing short- and feature-length scripts with an existential nod. Now integrating techniques based on Dramatica theory, my goal is to write psychological sci-fi that challenges, celebrates and entertains our notions of humanity while satisfying the crucial arguments of a complete Storymind.
