Synopsis/Details:

An estate attorney requires a broken family to spend a week at an Alaska fishing camp where Granny pretends to be drunk as they all push and shove for their piece of mom’s estate and Granny decides who gets what. When a tree falls over the camp runway they must journey to a cabin surviving the bears, the weather and each other.
Playful Granny swims in a bottle at a family gathering after her daughter’s funeral. She is blissfully numb to the ubiquitous family fights and stunned when the estate attorney tells them the family must spend a week at a remote Alaska fishing camp or nobody gets anything from the will. They all become Granny’s best friend when they discover she determines who gets what when it’s over. Granny has an epiphany. She pretends to be drunk the whole trip so she can be a fly on the wall hoping they will all be themselves. After a thrilling (for some)/paralyzing (for others) bush plane flight the adventure/horror begins. Character flaws are magnified when they get to the new world and a plane can’t pick them up when a tree falls over the runway. It’s a blood bath as they wade through bears, rough terrain, weather, mosquitos and each other on their journey to a cabin where they will be picked up. Duplicitous Granny throws in the towel then has a plan B. She gives them something bigger to worry about; she’s gone when they wake. Constant fighting wears them down and fatigue becomes an awakening as they each face their inner demons. They all had big plans as Granny gives each of them a check but now that they’re family the altruistic siblings understand sacrifice and everybody wins.

The Writer: Steve Krause

I don't really have a bio. I live on the page in the storyworld I create with friends/enemies called characters. I have more fun with the protags but the antags are much more interesting even though they often get me wound up. If you want to find me close your eyes and walk toward the firefight. When you do, I hope you're one of the good guys. Go to bio
