The Angels

An ARMED ROBBER stumbles down an alley bleeding badly. He reaches into his pocket and removes a poker chip emblazoned with ANGEL’S WINGS before collapsing. An ambulance speeds by and off into the night before a black panel van pulls into the mouth of the alley and two figures emerge. They load the Robber into the van and casually drive off.

CLAIRE HILL, a driven and dedicated paramedic is informed she is being let go for stealing painkillers. The arrival of her brother, KEVIN, at her doorstep, home from a ten year prison sentence, opens old wounds and introduces Claire to a world she never believed existed. Kevin drives for an underground ambulance service used by criminals and gangs looking to receive medical care under the radar. The service, known by those on the street as ‘Angels,’ are looking for a new addition and Claire is the perfect fit.

Kevin introduces Claire to his boss, BILL HENDRICKS, the eccentric and manic head of the organization, as well as SONJA PERON, former combat medic and resident triage surgeon. Before Claire knows what hit her, she is on her first ridealong with The Angels, attempting to save criminals who may not have otherwise had a chance. Claire aces her first night despite concerns about the way they operate, and agrees to join the team.

After losing a prestigious medical school scholarship for assaulting a fellow student, ANTON BAKER moves back in with his grandmother in one of L.A.’s toughest neighbourhoods. One night while walking home, Anton witnesses The Angels in action, and immediately makes it his mission to join. Eventually Anton tracks down The Angels, resulting in Bill forcing Anton to save the life of his best friend as a job interview, which Anton passes with flying colours.

The Angels work the streets of L.A. in a fleet of black panel vans, answering calls and saving as many lives as they can, all while trying to stay out of the crossfire themselves. As if that weren’t enough, the crew are pursued by the ravenous DETECTIVE ELLEN BARZO, who finds herself closer than ever to unravelling the secret behind the elusive ambulance service.

THE ANGELS tells the thrilling story of an underground ambulance team set amongst the backdrop of L.A., where violent crime, gang warfare and corruption can be all too frequent occurrences. Episode by episode, THE ANGELS delivers daring chases, life and death surgeries; biting social commentary and no shortage of drama.
