Synopsis/Details
Forty years after a brutal crime at a rural quarry, Bob Bell, a crippled and reclusive old man, spends his days confined to an armchair by the fire, haunted by more than failing health. When two detectives arrive to question him about a cold case — the disappearance of a fourteen-year-old girl named Claire Morton — Bob insists he knows nothing. But as they show him her photograph, the ghost of the girl appears, wet and wrapped in the same white towel she wore the day he killed her.
When the police leave, Bob is forced to face the spectre that has haunted him for decades. Claire begs him to let her rest — to tell them where her body lies hidden in the woods. He finally confesses, writing the location on the back of her photo. But redemption comes too late. As a dark figure rises behind him, Bob’s body begins to burn from within, consumed by hellfire as Claire’s voice condemns him to eternal torment.
By dawn, the police return to find only smoke, ash, and a damp towel by the chair — proof that some sins never sink.
