30 years after a tragic accident killed one member of the aspiring young rock band, ‘Halo Effect’ and left another band member, Hayden in a coma, the other two surviving members of the group, Conor and Lauren, reunite to realize the musical dream they never fulfilled, by forming a new band with their kids.
All three ex-band members are haunted by guilt from the death of their friend Sally (the love of Hayden’s life) and Hayden’s subsequent struggle after awakening from a coma with serious brain damage. Lacking basic co-ordination, he initially struggled to function on a normal level, but years of painful therapy has improved his quality of life – year by year, there have been improvements - but the one thing that has held him back most, is his bitter resentment towards Conor and Lauren, whom he blames for the accident.
At the time of the accident, Conor and Lauren were a young couple, but stricken with grief and guilt, they went their separate ways – Conor was is a bad place and life took over - to they both lived completely separate lives and had children and families of their own.
However, unknown to Conor, Lauren kept a secret - she was pregnant with their daughter, Dylan, when they split. In the meantime, Conor had a child of his own, Noah with his soon to be ex-wife.
By chance, they meet again some 30 years later where past and present converge in an attempt heal old wounds. Can the three ex-band members bury the hatchet and work together and can the kids Noah and Dylan (who don’t known they are half brother and sister) put together a band with newcomer Billy, an alternative, Firsdt-Nation teenage, self-taught drummer wannabe, who lacks self-confidence, self-worth and poise. Helped by their eccentric agent, Herbie, they help their kids on the road to success, and along the way, finally come to terms with their past and try to put it behind them and work together. But the old wounds run dep and the scars have never healed. Revelations about the past and what really happened that fateful night, as well as long held secrets, stand in their way.
