Synopsis/Details

A chance encounter at a roadside diner sets Ethan and Molly on a cross-country road trip from the Midwest to California, during which they fall deeply in love amid a series of misadventures — hitting a deer, blowing up a rental car, and brawling at a body shop. Woven throughout their journey is the ever-present metaphor of an asteroid called Oligod, representing cancer, which ultimately claims Molly's life. The story is narrated by Ethan, who tells it the way Molly asked him to — fantastically and with heart — and is punctuated by visits from their future daughter Emma and mythological figures representing fate and time, all building toward a bittersweet ending in which a grief-stricken Ethan finds peace through the memories of a love that, though cut short, was extraordinary
