Synopsis/Details
In the shadowed streets of Victorian London, death is never far away.
After seven years abroad studying medicine, anatomy, and experimental galvanic science in Europe, Victor returns to his family’s decaying London estate with a singular obsession: to prove that death is not an ending, but a mechanical failure that can be reversed. Brilliant, isolated, and increasingly consumed by grief and ambition, Victor establishes a secret laboratory beneath Beaufort House, where he begins laying the groundwork for experiments that could challenge the very laws of nature.
At the same time, London is gripped by a series of disturbing deaths. Bodies are appearing under suspicious circumstances, each marked by precise surgical tissue removal that suggests medical knowledge and a chilling purpose. Detective Inspector James Walton, Victor’s longtime friend, begins investigating what first appears to be a conventional murder case, only to uncover a pattern linking multiple deaths across the city.
Hovering near each crime scene is the enigmatic Father Edmund Colquhoun, a respected priest whose compassion masks a far darker private mission. By night, Edmund acts as confessor, judge, and executioner, targeting men he believes have escaped earthly justice. His carefully maintained ledger of names reveals a methodical crusade that places him on a collision course with both Walton’s investigation and Victor’s secret work.
As Victor reconnects with those from his past—including the compassionate physician Dr. Elizabeth Haven, who urges him to use his talents to save the living, and the morally compromised Dr. Henry Clerval, who opens the door to the city’s illicit trade in fresh cadavers—his obsession deepens. What begins as an academic pursuit quickly turns into a descent toward moral ruin, as Victor seeks increasingly “fresh material” for his experiments.
The pilot sets in motion a gothic psychological thriller where science, faith, murder, and obsession intertwine. As Walton closes in on the truth behind the killings, Victor moves ever closer to crossing the line between healer and monster.
VICTOR is a prestige horror-drama series that reimagines the mythology of reanimation through the lens of Victorian crime, forbidden science, and human ambition, exploring how far one man will go to conquer death—and what darkness waits on the other side.
