As most of you here don't know, I've been looking for someone to read my last script, Baby Huey, for months. Then, last week, Kenneth Bly suggested a script swap. As we all know in this business, most promises to read a script tend to fizzle like Sprite on a hot asphalt. And at the time I was in a deep funk after a disagreement with a prospective publisher. But, I'm happy to say, Ken did exactly what he say he would do: he read my script. That may not sound like a big deal, but to me it's a huge deal. You know how some days you feel like you're a poser, a hack, a wannabe writer with no clear idea where to put a comma? Well, I was there and then some. And then Kenneth messaged me today and said he enjoyed reading my story. Of course, I read his script--and he's a darn good storyteller with a deep understanding of the subject matter--but I cannot thank him enough for directing a little sunshine my way. It goes to show that sometimes a simple act of kindness goes a long way. JH
I didn't see this until now. Trust me, it was a pleasure reading your script. You're right. It's frustrating when no one will read your work and give you at least SOME feedback. When my book got published, everyone wanted an autographed copy. I must have handed out 30 to 40 copies, and only 1 person read it and shared what she thought. You and Andy Golub are the only ones to read my screenplay. which I very much appreciated. I actually learned from reading your script. I highly recommend everyone here read it. I think you've really good product. I would happily pay to see it. Good luck!
