Hello everyone,
Thank you for this amazing space.
It's my first time writing a screenplay... I'm an academic researcher, but I also do consultancy for projects related to ideological and religious conflicts, history, arts and culture in the MENA region. Finally, I dared to write a screenplay after a few of months of readings about this wonderful domain. English is... a third language for me, so... I did my best to polish my work, and now I'm looking for writers and professionals interested in the above-mentioned subject, to have a look at my screenplay and help with feedback and advice. If not, what do you recommend as a service to get the necessary feedback?
Thank you so much.
Kind regards.
Badr.
Congratulations on your first screenplay!
Your written English is better than mine, so I would say you're already way ahead of me.
Feedback is a very general term, and in screenwriting, especially online, many will have different definitions.
For this website, the main next step is Rockstar membership. There are a lot of resources and discounts that you can only access if you're a Rockstar member. All of them are paid resources.
In terms of free resources, anything in the Education and Blog tabs above may be of use to you.
Direct feedback, especially useful feedback, only comes from good relationships you've established with other industry members. In other words, your friends. Go forth and meet people.
If I were you, I wouldn't bother introducing myself with the fact that English is your third language. You're obviously well-read and educated. You have an English-based screenplay. You got what it takes. The next steps are up to you.
Hello Lily and A.S. Templeton,
Your answer is exactly what I meant by feedback :) So, thank you so much!
Today I got the 1st Peer-to-Peer Feedback on Coverfly, and it's really awesome to read it. What matters the most for me, is how other professionals see the elements of my work from their different angles.
As for the UK/US English, I'm not sure if it's needed in a film (True story) about a multinational community of expats in a central European country, where they use English to communicate at work, just among themselves and with the supervisor who is from the US. Other languages are used from time to time in brief conversations; French, Czech and Arabic.
Thank you.
Best
The top recommended coverage service here is Script Reader Pro because you can choose your specific reader from a bunch of named professionals. You can also get a discount if you upgrade to Rockstar Membership here first.
