Synopsis/Details
Lonely and scarred by the death of his wife and two daughters, German-born hunter Ludwig tries to defy all odds in post-apocalyptic America and live a dangerous life in a wooden cabin near a river in a forest surrounded by trees. Resigned to living the rest of his life alone and without human relations, Ludwig meets a girl in a nearby abandoned petrol station who has been separated from her mother and is desperately trying to get back to her. Although Ludwig is reluctant at first, he decides to help the little girl. Along the way, both characters encounter the undead that plague this land; together they must fight against this threat and manage to fight their way to the place the little girl named Vera can remember. Unfortunately, the mismatched duo gets lost, whereupon Ludwig blames Vera for their failed situation, leading to a shouting match between the two, in which Ludwig must learn to pull himself together despite his past and figure out together what to do next. Eventually, the two companions find the cabin where Vera's mother was supposed to be, but no one seems to be there anymore. Saddened by the situation, the two find a zombie behind the house, which turns out to be Vera's mother. Vera and Ludwig must face this emotional situation and overcome their fears together, after which Ludwig decides to adopt Vera as his own daughter and live together with her in this broken world.

The Writer: Robin Schmitteckert

"Every once in a while you come across somebody that just makes you better in every way," and for me that somebody was my professor at the American university where I was allowed to take a screenwriting course for half a year. I have discovered the art of screenwriting for myself and like to incorporate personal values and experiences into my writing. Especially drama, horror and romance are my favourite genres and therefore often find their way into my works. Go to bio
