Synopsis/Details
“AMATEURS” Synopsis by Kevin T Bicharr “AMATEURS” is a modern comedic screenplay set in a present day North American Metro city. Utilizing a few indoor and outdoor sets, it may need a few stunts and special effects; “AMATEURS” could be made on a limited budget. “AMATEURS” is the story of four friends (Victor, Kevin, Marcus and Dustin) with normal but financially unsatisfied lives who embark on a get rich quick scheme. Victor, who is an investment specialist, gets into some trouble and owes the wrong person (Porter) a huge amount of money. With Porter threatening Victor’s life if he doesn’t pay up, Victor persuades his three friends into robbing a bank truck with him; while not telling them his real reason for wanting to rob the bank truck. With all four on board, and realizing they lack experience or resources to pull such a robbery, they seek help from a local thug (Sunny), who happens to be obsessed with playing different soundtracks for every moment of life or live occurrences. Sunny refuses to help Victor and his friends due to their inexperience. Porter coincidentally visits Sunny and forces him to do a bank truck robbery for him in order to steal his own diamonds. Sunny in need of men to do Porter’s robbery, tricks Victor and his friends into helping him do his robbery first in exchange for his help and resources in doing their own bank truck robbery later. Victor and the guys accept to do Sunny’s robbery first with no clue of Porter’s involvement in it. The first robbery though hilariously and clumsily done is completed successfully, but Victor secretly manages to steal and hide the bag of diamonds. Sunny, still unaware of the disappearance of the diamonds, reveals his unwillingness to help them with their own robbery and sends them off. Porter on realizing his safe box is empty and the diamonds missing, blames it on Sunny, who in turn, suspects Victor and his friends as he goes on a man hunt around town chasing the guys down in order to retrieve the diamonds. Marcus, Dustin and Kevin are still unaware of the reason why Sunny is after them, as Victor still hasn’t told them about the diamonds. Dustin is captured by Sunny, forcing Victor to reveal his secret to Marcus and Kevin. A meet is arranged for the exchange of Dustin for the diamonds. To the amazement of Victor, Porter is present to ensure he retrieves his diamonds, but again, events occur randomly and in the most unpredictable manner. “AMATEURS” is a broad comedy that will entertain people of diverse age groups from 13 and above, its originality and unique ideas and jokes will make this movie a must watch.
