Synopsis/Details
Ten years ago, when HARRY LIDO was a senior in high school, he briefly met a young freshman girl, KIMMY BART. Now, 28-year-old Harry is working as a private detective who lives and works in his tiny one-room building above the pier in Redondo Beach, California.
As he scrolls through his Facebook account, he sees a death notice. Kimmy either fell off, jumped off, or was pushed off a cruise ship on her honeymoon.
Kimmy’s wealthy mother, who has a tendency of hitting the bottle, hires Harry to find out what happened to her daughter.
A few days after starting to investigate this case, Harry is awakened by loud pounding on the door before sunrise. It’s DUDEMAN, the friendly neighborhood homeless man. Dudeman found a body under the Redondo Pier, and wants Harry to do something about it. Harry goes to take a look, Dudeman runs off, and Harry is knocked unconscious.
Of course, Harry becomes a person of interest, but is able to talk his way out of the police station.
The dead man turns out to be a hedge fund manager, and his pushy wife demands that Harry find out who committed the murder. Now he needs to solve two big cases at the same time.
Harry’s investigation leads him to a lot of interesting characters, including an investment advisor, an attorney, and a Beverly Hills movie producer who can’t stop talking.
After checking out one possible suspect, Harry and his girlfriend, ASHLEY, almost become murder victims themselves with bullets whizzing past them as they run for their lives down the beach at night.
Fortunately, Harry’s doggedness and determination lead him to solving both cases.
