Kerrissa Haymen (17) lives with her mother Samantha Haymen (43) in an inner-city housing projects in Chicago. One dark night Samantha’s abusive husband Hank comes homes from work drunk and attacks Samantha. Kerssia screams and telekinetically breaks his neck; killing him. In fear for daughter’s life Samantha leaves Chicago and travels back to her hometown to Del-Plane Mississippi.
Act I
Kerssia awakens and Samantha tells her daughter that she is a descendant of a long line of powerful Voodoos aka African American Witches. We learn Kerssia’s grandmother Mama June Jaymen (68) is a powerful Voodoo Queen of Mississippi and uses her powers to help those in need. Samantha arrives at the Haymen Plantation, a lavish sprawling southern plantation where June lives. June greets her daughter and grand daughter with open arms, but Samantha makes it clear Kerrissa will not learn how to use magic during there stay.
Meanwhile in downtown Memphis a new witch night club Magick City is celebrating its grand opening. We learn through reporters covering the story that witches have ben known to the public for only a year and have demanded equal rights. A large group of protesters picket outside the club, while inside we see people of all shapes and sizes partying and drinking on the dance floor. Waitress disappear and reappear serving drinks as Adam (25) walks into the club and goes over to the bar. Veronica Haymen (22) sleek sarcastic businesswoman walks over and strikes a conversation. We learn Adam is a reporter for the LA Times and is doing a special report of witches in America as is looking for the owner of the club. Veronica reveals she is the owner and offers to answer a few questions from Adam. The two move to the roof of the building and talk when Veronica uses her powers to kill Adam for fun and turn him into an undead zombie. Out of nowhere Veronica receives a vision and sees that June is dying.
Act II
Across the city in the projects we focus on Willow Haymen (38) and her son Cartel Haymen (18). Willow offers magical protection to a local gang run by a drug dealer named Tommy. The night before Tommy’s gang suffered a loss after a tragic drive by took out one of his dealers, something that should not have happened had Willow’s magic worked. Tommy becomes frustrated with Willow and breaks off his deal paying for magical protection. Cartel speculates that June is dying which is making their powers go haywire. Willow claims she does not care and tells Cartel to try to talk to Tommy and get him back as a client.
Meanwhile Samantha tries to connect with Kerssia, but she is angry that Samantha never told her about being a witch. It is then Samantha’s sister Page Haymen (40) enters asking to speak. Kerssia excuses herself and is taken by her grandmother to the porch. Page and Samantha argue over a secret Samantha has been hiding for nearly 20 years as we are alluded to the fact that Samantha may just in fact abandoned Kerssia there at the manor.
At the same time June takes her granddaughter to the sprawling cotton fields and tells her the story of Kimo, the Haymen’s ancestor who was a slave for the Haymen brothers, two salve owners who family built and owns most of the land in Del-Plane. Kimo is said to have fallen in love with one of the Haymen brothers and there by securing not her freedom, but the Haymen’s current lavish wealth. Samantha comes outside calling for her daughter interrupting June’s tale. Kerssia asks her grandmother to lean magic and June says she will teach her. Kerrssa goes inside to help her Aunt Page with dinner while Samantha presses the uses to June that she wants Kerssia to grow up having a normal life.
Meantime Samuel Haymen (30) handsome young politician is in the middle of Mississippi’s Governor Debate against his opponent Ginger Starling (30) upper class white evangelist. Samuel tries to focus on the debate but keeps flashing back to being caught by his wife Nyshera Haymen (31) in the middle of an affair with another woman. Samuel losses the debate when he is visited in his dressing room by Veronica. We learn the two are brother and sister and that Samuel is running on behalf of a political movement called OWM (Open Witches Movement). Veronica explains that June is dying and that she is bringing the family together.
Act III
In Atlanta we enter the middle of a out of control hotel party and focus on Michael Haymen (21) having sex with three girls. As he does we can hear the thoughts of the women allowing Michael to take full advantage of their bodies. Suddenly two large gun men burst in and attack Michael.
Back in Del-Plane Cartel goes to visit Tommy and his gang. It is clear the gang members hate the fact that Cartel is gay and a witch. After arguing with one of the members about speaking with Tommy, Cartel losses his temper and sets on of them halfway on fire. Tommy comes out and breaks up the commotion and Cartel tells him he knows a way to find out who did the drive by.
Meanwhile Michael is being beaten savagely by the two large gun men. We learn that Michael owes a man named Big Tony a lot of money and that they have come to collect. Just as things look scary Veronica shows up and kills one of the henchmen.
In the streets of Del-Plane Cartel rides with Tommy and explains that they have to go to the morgue in order for Cartel to do a spell to find out who killed Tommy’s friend. We learn the two have been having a secret sexual relationship, but Tommy is deeply in denial about his feelings for Cartel. The two arrive and break into the city morgue finding Tommy’s friend’s body. Cartel takes out Tommy’s friend’s eyes and does a spell which allows Cartel see through his friend’s eyes revealing a Spanish Witch committing the drive by. Tommy concludes they must be from their rival gang the El Diablos. Cartel wonders why they would attack Tommy’s crew if they knew they had magic protection from the Haymen’s.
Back at the manor Samantha learns that June is sick after discovering a large number of pills in her bathroom. June catches her and just as the two are about to have a moment Kerssia screams from outside. June, Samantha, and Page go outside to see a huge storm rolling in as a bright sports car dives up to the manor. Veronica and Michael get out of the car and it is clear no one likes Veronica. June saying, she is a Hoodoo (dark witch). Veronica reveals to Kerssia that Michael is her long-lost brother that Samantha dropped off 20 years ago for Page to raise.
Act IV
Riding through De-Plane in the back seat of a limo is Samuel on the phone with Nyshera. Nyshera wants a divorce and says she going to move out of their home and with her sister. Samuel is upset when Melissa Haddon (34) magically appears in Samuel’s limo. We learn she is a representative of the OWM and lets Samuel know that the group is upset how he handled the debate. It revealed the OWM has a political agenda to place for witches in congress in order to promote equal rights for witches, and that Samuel if elected would be the first witch elected in to a public office. Melissa tells Samuel to fix things with his wife and to ask his family to help the OWM by giving a monetary donation. Samuel agrees and it is alluded that Melissa is the woman whom Samuel had an affair with.
In the meantime, at the manor Samuel arrives into the dinning room to see his family all sitting together getting ready for dinner. June finally reveals the truth that she is dying and that one of her grandchildren will inherit the families magic upon her death and become snot only the next King or Queen of Voodoo, but also inherit the families mega fortune. Veronica proclaims she should be the next in line for succession, but Page would rather have Samuel be crowned king. June insists that during this time they stay together as a family, but Michael becomes upset and lashes out at Samantha for abandoning him. This leads to Michael leaving and Kerssia to argue with her mother. Veronica sympathizes with her cousin and asks Kerissa if she wants to go for a night out to get away. Kerrissa despite Samantha say no, agrees and leaves with Veornica. Seeing an opportunity Samuel decides to ask June about help financing his campaign for governor, but June does not trust the OWM and tells Samuel no. Samuel leaves defeated as Samantha and Page begin showing their sibling rivalry with both vying for the children to inherit June’s throne. As everything comes to a head June laments no one is ready to take the crown when Willow enters with Cartel proclaiming, they have a problem.

Later that night Michael walks alone through the woods leaving the manor when he begins hearing the thoughts of young women chanting in Latin. Michael follows the voices and finds a group of young Caucasian female witches dancing naked around a bonfire. Michael becomes transfixed with the women and finds himself walking over toward them mesmerized.
Back inside the manor June listens to Cartel and kermises that the attack was from Brujas (Spanish Witches.) Willow feels this attack was not just against them, but the whole family and wants June to go to war, but June disagrees. Willow laments that June has never seen her as good enough, and June just adds salt to the wound by agreeing with Willow. Willow leaves upset with Cartel and tells him to set up a meeting with Tommy’s gang and the El Diablos. When Cartel asks why Willow reveals she is going to have them Spanish witches help her take down June so Cartel will inherit the family magic and fortune.
Samuel arrives home to his wife. The two have a fight as Samuel pleads with Nyshera to at least stay with him until the election is over. Nyshera says no and we learn she has been trying to have a baby with Samuel to no avail, and that she believes Samuel cheated on her because she is barren. Samuel denies this, but Nyshera’s heart is already too broken for forgiveness. She goes to leave when Samuel uses his powers and knocks Nysehra out and performs a horrifying ritual on Nyshera who get her pregnant.
Meanwhile Veronica takes Kerssia to a wild house party in the hood. Veronica places a spell on Kerissa’s drink which causes her to become extremely disoriented. While Kerissa is dancing Veronica places a spell on a group of guys and force them to take Kerissa upstairs alone and rape her. Veronica is relived thinking that the guys will kill Kerissa thus eliminating another female contending Veronica for the throne. Just as everything seems to be going according to plan Veronica hears a loud commotion in the room. She enters to see all the guys slaughtered and Kerssia passed out covered in their blood. Veronica: “Well now that’s interesting.”
