Synopsis/Details
The story follows a man who is cursed—or perhaps blessed—with immortality. No matter what happens, he cannot die. At first, he is thrilled by the idea of eternal life, but over time, the consequences of living forever begin to take their toll. He watches loved ones age, disappear, and eventually die, while he remains unchanged. As the years go on, the world around him crumbles, and his isolation grows. The weight of losing everything, coupled with the inability to die, drives him into a deep depression. Eventually, the Earth itself is destroyed in a cataclysmic event. His body is cast into space, alone, drifting in the void, still unable to die. Yet, just as he resigns himself to an eternity in the cold, dark expanse of the universe, a new layer of tragedy emerges. The man envisions himself committing suicide, only to realize that he cannot escape his fate. The final twist reveals that he still remains alive, wandering through the cosmos in a seemingly endless cycle. In the final moments, a young boy wakes up, realizing he is now mortal, and driven by the “dream” of the man, he takes his own life. However, in an eerie turn, we see the man’s body still drifting through space, as the boy imagines he has escaped death. The film ends on a haunting note, leaving the audience to question the nature of life, death, and the price of immortality. Themes: The burden of immortality and the psychological decay it causes. The cyclical nature of life and death. The absurdity of living forever and the toll it takes on the soul. The fragility of the human spirit and the lengths we might go to escape despair.
