Synopsis/Details
BROTHER Written by Dusan Vranic This is a psychological thriller with some horror elements. It has a plot twist and hides well the “true” story while immersing the viewer deeply inside the atmosphere of the desolation of an incel teenager. Intro Fred lives in a small town with his mother and a quadriplegic brother. He’s a teenager with low self-esteem and in a difficult family situation. The pandemic is raging, and Fred’s social life has never been poorer. The school classes are held primarily online. One day, while surfing the “Dark web” to buy some pills, Fred stumbles upon Tina, an application that functions as a personal coach for adults. He downloads and installs Tina. First part Tina helps Fred to lose some weight and to strengthen up and, by doing so, gain some confidence. Fred and Tina develop a relationship based on virtual sex and exercise. The pandemic has loosened its tights, and school classes are in-person. Fred confronts the “new normal” and everything that goes with it. A young girl named Lea likes the new Fred, and he’s not immune to her charm. Fred confronts the school bully and draws Lea’s attention even more. The two start seeing each other and slowly engage in a relationship. The second part Meanwhile, Fred’s mother sinks deeper into depression and alcohol. Not having a job, money or help with her quadriplegic son makes life and keeping the home together an impossible task. Tina learns about Lea and becomes jealous. After a fallout, she "uninstalls" herself from Fred’s life. Fred and Lea seem to have a romantic teenage love affair, but after a few alterations with Lea involving the school bully, Lea’s ex-boyfriend, Fred’s long-built confidence starts to shake. He also becomes more aware of the situation at home. He notices his mother binge drinking and neglecting his quadriplegic brother. Things worsen when Lea tells Fred she and her family must move town. Her father lost his job due to the pandemic. The third part After the meeting with Lea, Fred lost and dumb-folded, discovers that Tina has re-installed herself on his computer. Tina tells Fred that Lea wasn’t truthful with him and shows him video footage of Lea cheating on him. Fred is devastated. Tina talks him into an act of revenge, and a crossbow that Fred wanted to purchase a while ago is now in his possession. Fred goes on a bloody rampage, killing everyone connected with Lea’s cheating on him. At the end of the bloodbath, Fred gets fatally wounded but manages to go back home to kill his brother and mother. “To put them out of their misery.” Tina assists Fred throughout the bloody event, but things change dramatically when Fred realises that his perception of reality is wrong and nothing is what it seems to be...

The Writer: Dusan Vranic

Born in Sarajevo in 1970, I started writing at an early age, but my passion for music led me to perform on stage at just 12 years old. After a rich musical career, I returned to writing during the pandemic when live music was restricted in many countries. I began writing short stories, longer pieces, and screenplays. Coming from a family of artists, musicians, writers, and a couple of famous actors, I emerged in a world of screenplays throughout my upbringing. My love for movies and theatre was evident from an early age, and ironically, the pandemic allowed me to fully immerse myself in writing for movies and TV shows. As a result, I won awards for Best Screenplay and Best Comedy for his… Go to bio
