Synopsis/Details
GENUINE INTEREST IN ACQURING A SCREENPLAY IS PREFERRED, RATHER THAN BEING JUST A FAN OF WATCHING MOVIES. A prison film... A football hooliganism film meets MMA and a touch of undercover cops.. Fun, cost effective, bloody. A different type of script for me. *Uploaded draft differs slightly to the below synopsis. BRUTAL DELUXE Scores of people enter a football ground, seating themselves down in the terraces. The atmosphere is both tense and exciting. Crowds go wild as terrific goals are had by both teams, resulting in a draw. “What a great game!” says wealthy American SCOTT McCOY. “D’you want to attend the after show party?” says a charming rogue, GARRET GROGAN. Team ‘fans’ walk the streets, taunting one another. McCoy walks alongside his new rogue companion and a few of his pals, getting into the spirit of the mood. From a pub window MAX DONIGAN, handsome, fresh-faced supporter, sees a crowd of fans close in. Near him, an older man, JAMES BRADDOCK, talks about the game with his 12 year-old son. Panic forms as it was supposed to be a safe, family friendly pub. A brutal fight ensues. Max and Braddock do their best to protect the boy. Braddock’s’ legs are broken as American McCoy watches the mindless violence unfold. “These fights need an angel investor.” says McCoy to the rogue. Police enter and Max is arrested and bundled into a van. Max is sentenced to 8 years in prison, despite none of it being his fault. His girlfriend is beside herself as he is led away. A wheelchair-bound Braddock watches on. The rogue, Garret Grogan, pays Max an unexpected prison visit, thanking him for taking the heat and not positively identifying any of the hooligans that day. Max shares a cell with a violent hooligan and gets regular visits through the years from a Braddock and his son, thanking him for his protection. “The boy shouldn’t have been there!” Max tells them about his cellmate and his hooligan information. The boy is fast-becoming a young man and shows an interest in football and fighting. Max's girlfriend, JJ, visits him, too, and cannot understand why he took the fall for these vile people. Grogan pities the young Braddock boy and his father, taking him under his wing. He even pays for physiotherapy. During prison time, Max, weight-trains and boxes, meeting interesting people ‘inside’, including a martial artist. New skills are put to the test when an inmate starts a fight with him, resulting in Max winning in spectacular style. Max soon gains a reputation as a man who can certainly handle his own battles, not to mention other peoples. Grogan's popularity is rising. Max is released and met by his girlfriend, JJ, “I don’t want any more of this, do you hear?” On their drive home, the car is forced to stop by men associated with Garret Grogan. The now older Braddock boy is also here, making Max highly concerned. The Braddock boy has a flash car. They're taken to a country estate where a fight is to take place. Max and JJ watch on... It's bloody and brutal.. Grogan talks to Max about football hooliganism and the old days and how fights no longer take place on the terraces. Modern technologies are able to identify people via facial recognition in an instant. Drones hover overhead. “We’re left with no alternative than to take the fight, the pride, the glory and territory elsewhere.” Winning is now a business.. land grabs, political favours, huge sums.. The winner comes into JJ and she refuses his advances. Max fights him and accidentally kills him. He's lined up as a replacement fighter.. and so is the Braddock boy. JJ and Max, in the country estate, talk about the Braddock lad. It's revealed he's an undercover cop and was partnered with... JJ. Max is disappointed.. He speaks with Braddock in the house, asking what the hell is he up to. "You wanna take revenge on the men who crippled your dad? Is it really that simple?" Braddock is lined up for a fight, too.. It's the next morning and Max has to fight a WOMAN in a barn. Guests in country clothes lap up the gory fight. Max wins in spectacular form, though reluctant. However, that night it is Braddock's turn... He has to fight a Russian - and what a Russian! He's huge and it takes place in an aircraft hangar.. The fight is impressive, however Braddock's true identity is soon discovered. Max and Braddock are taken to the house and held in a cellar. They're to fight one another or JJ will be killed. It's sadistic... It is unearthed that Max, too, is deep undercover. JJ, in her room escapes via a window and makes her way back into the house, calling for back-up. She takes on several thugs inside the grand country estate, slicing some with a sword and a mace she got from a knight in armour. Her face is smashed up pretty bad in a fight, but she makes it down to the cellar where Max and Braddock have been battling each other... Max is in bad shape... so is Braddock... JJ takes out a few thugs, but is she too late..?
