Synopsis/Details
It's early October in present-day Green Grove. A recent pair of murders has rattled this small, Midwestern town and its inhabitants. A disguised killer breaks into a woman's home at night and stabs her to death in her bedroom in a seemingly random attack. Kimberly Pierce, a young criminal justice student, dreams of the murder. She's had prophetic dreams before but nothing this strong. She's deeply troubled by her visions. Kimberly is a guarded but strong young woman. Her aunt adopted her at age nine after her mother's unfortunate death in a drunk driving accident. Kimberly soon seeks the help of a psychic to get a grasp on her visions. Her psychic reading is somewhat helpful, but Kimberly is still confused and fearful. She has a lucid dream that night in which another clue about the killer is revealed. She reaches out to Detective Lindler -- the detective assigned to the murders. He's skeptical, but her physical description of the killer is accurate. Her description of the stab wounds also match the weapon she's seen in her dreams -- a shiny butterfly knife with a five-inch, single-edged blade. Unable to ignore the situation any longer, Kimberly unwillingly enters a quest to find out more about her disturbing visions. But she's warned that she's formed a psychic connection with the killer. Her life could be in grave danger. Things soon ramp up when the killer turns his attention toward Kimberly and her friends. One of her friends is murdered at a Halloween haunted house while Kimberly and another friend barely escape with their lives. Detective Lindler finally gets on Kimberly's side when he realizes her previous prognostications were all true. Kimberly and her best friend are grieved terribly by their friend's death. Kimberly finds a way to will herself through it, but her friend is inconsolable and recoils from daily life. It's at this point that she meets a fellow student from her criminal justice class. He asks her out on a date and she says yes, curious to discover his intentions. Kimberly reaches out to her psychic friend again, who teaches her how to astral project. Kimberly uses this to foil the killer's attempt to kill her other friend. Detective Lindler is now convinced that the killings are not random in nature. He tries to convince Kimberly to go into protective custody with her friend. Kimberly declines. She instead opts to prepare for the inevitable. She obtains a revolver and teaches herself how to shoot. Kimberly decides that she will not be a helpless victim. In a tense climax, Kimberly gains the confidence she's been seeking and ultimately confronts the killer face-to-face, changing her life forever.
