Synopsis/Details
Landon lives for security, success and a legacy. He and his business partner Carter score another client at their PR firm and celebrate at the bar after. Carter invites two young Instagram influencers, Zoey and Danielle, to join in and discuss a "partnership," but Landon can only focus on work, the next steps and landing bigger clients. When Landon hears their biggest competitor just bagged a long-term, high-paying client, he books a cabin getaway with unanimous glowing reviews as a business retreat. They arrive at the remote cabin and are greeted by property owners George and Marian Campbell, a sweeter-than-sweet couple who live in a house just up the hill. The Campbells give a tour of a popular spot in the house, the Cleanse Room, where guests can write down a confession and cleanse themselves of their secrets. Just as Landon is ready to jump into business plans, Carter’s guests arrive. Danielle, Zoey, and Carter’s hippie cousin Saffron. Landon’s enraged as Carter and the “uninvited” guests turn the business trip into a party. In the midst of the festivities, Carter initiates the Cleanse by writing a silly confession, not realizing he set loose a mysterious barrier that keeps anyone from leaving the cabin. At first, the confessions are light, but if they lie, there are consequences. As the confessions dig deeper, the consequences for lying become a matter of life, and more frequently, death. As their friends start to disappear or become permanent fixtures of the cabin, they discover the owners signed a sinister deal to secure positive reviews and future bookings. The key to survival? Write a great review and get someone to book. Now, they’re forced to play the game and convince others to check in if they want to check out alive.

The Writer: Todd Foley

I love words and am learning how to use them to make the world a better place. I write character-driven thrillers that go down easy but stay with you after the ending. I have self-published four works of fiction : an introspective coming-of-age drama, a slow burn lives-of-others novella, a stay-at-home-dad dramedy, and a set of seven short love stories that intersect to make one big twisted story about love (but not a love story). I took three of the short stories in the last book that generated the most buzz and adapted them into a feature thriller that's Gone Girl meets Promising Young Woman , and my current focus is trying to bring it to fruition.
