Synopsis/Details
We open on a pair of southern sorority girls in October 1995. These girls, Aspen brown and Tessa Miller, live relatively normal lives, partying, going to class, attending chapter meetings. When Tessa’s ex, Jeff, starts hooking up with one of their sorority sisters, they decide to get their mind off of things and end up at vegan health restaurant: Café Daffodil. The Café Daffodil food is picture perfect. Imitation meat and dairy products so good that they’re even better than the original. While there, they meet Ben, a charming waiter who also happens to be a T.A. for one of Tessa’s classes. While Tessa is crushing, Aspen is uncomfortable. Something isn’t right at the Café Daffodil. As Aspen works to peel back the layers and get to the root of their secrecy, Tessa only finds her more and more annoying. The two eventually separate, Tessa is enthralled with her new boyfriend Ben, and Aspen with the café. In a desperate attempt for closure Aspen spends the night at the Café Daffodil and walks in on a mysterious staff meeting. This meeting outs the restaurant as a cheery cover for a cannibalistic cult who claims themselves to be the saintly “Suns of Justice.” Killing criminals as punishment while feeding their bodies to the unknowing community. Helping to run the scheme is Café Daffodil owner Mary Sun, and her husband, the sheriff, Luke Sun. Faced with true horrors Aspen tries to escape but ultimately has to pay for her own crimes.
