Synopsis/Details
Our non-bougie coffee drinking team is comprised of YANYA and JOE. YANYA a strikingly beautiful, petite Croatian female in her 30's. YANYA is anxious, intelligent, deadly, and still dealing with the trauma growing up in the Yugoslav Civil War. Currently YANYA struggles to reconcile the recent breakup with her Philandering Swede. JOE is a typical looking Caucasian American in his 40's changing careers from the life of Corporate Non-Profit to "Contractor". JOE is a laid back, quick witted, alcoholic with a penchant for one liners who helps his partner balance her work life. JOE is struggling with depression and a long lasting separation from an ex-wife that has taken him to the cleaners seeking redemption in the ashes of his former life. Our story starts in Chicago, where the main characters reside. They frequent a local coffee shop where they have a friendly relationship with an outgoing barista and travel the world for their employer, completing their job assignments with flair and no fuss. We see that Yanya is always the trigger man for the Wet Works, while Joe is in a supportive role, much like in their personal life. Yanya lures her targets into a false sense of security using her charms and tends to complete the jobs with psycho-sexual violence. Since the targets all identify as war criminals, one can wonder how much of this technique vs therapy for her past trauma is. Yanya typically delves into deep, philosophical topics of conversation to keep her mind busy. Joe supports her in his aloof and distracted way, with drink in hand. They bond over the mutual grief over their long term relationships. As the story develops there is increasing sexual tension that is kept in check by their professionalism. Yanya gets the chance of vengeance with her past war trauma, which is her motivation for her career. Our duo complete the story by gaining closure in their past relations as well as tasting their freedom from fear and uncertainty of past trauma.

I'm Sanja from Former Yugoslavia. I had a dream to once write a story that would be funny, emotionally and psychologicallly connected to the audience about life itself. I wanted it to be simple and relatable. So I sat down with my friend Leo and we wrote a story. Story of two people in the world dealing with it. So now We'd like to share it, and hope it is liked.
