Synopsis/Details
The unbelievable events in this film are based on the true experiences of writer Genevieve Knights and her life as a chef in hospitality. "If it is in the script I have either seen it first hand, had it done to me, said it or done it myself". Two side by side restaurants vie for custom, reputation and survival in the cut throat environment of food service. The male and female executive chefs start out as enemies but soon realise that they need to work together if they are both to achieve any real restaurant success. The ethnicity of the staff and kitchen language is very diverse and talk is very harsh and military in style. The accents and behaviour of teen workers, immigrant labourers and shady characters cause endless challenges for the leads in the kitchens and front of house as they try to run the businesses at a profit. GISELLE an attractive woman in her 30’s, is the executive chef of Caramellow a French style modern bistro. She comes from a poor family and has worked since mid teens in restaurants to fulfil a dream of owning her own restaurant. She is immensely competitive, has a bad temper and ice cold blue eyes that can chill anyone to the bone. She works for Pierre the French sociopathic owner who values money above all else. Giselle has learned every trick in the book from Pierre to make money out of a kitchen. But Pierre her mentor does not operate as above board as she does. MARCO is a smooth and sophisticated Italian descended man in his early 40’s who comes from a wealthy family. He and his mother FRANCESSCA own Pistachios, a high quality Italian themed restaurant to the left of Caramellow. Marco isn’t a classically trained chef, more of a keen foodie who threw a bit of his families money into a restaurant without enough qualifications or business training. He takes a lighter hand in dealing with his staff to his own detriment. Giselle must overcome her lack of trust in others and a bias against other female chefs. Marco must learn that restaurants are a business and not just an outlet for his culinary creativity. If they can put egos aside, together they could achieve greatness! Sound track is heavy rock music theme to emphasis the fast paced and stressful work environment.
