Synopsis/Details
Two teenagers on their way home drive down a lonely, abandoned, road only to end up on a one-lane bridge that has a terrifying and sad history to it. This is CRYBABY BRIDGE, and it has become a popular spot for the local teens to scare each other and spread the legend of an accident that happened there. The legend tells of a woman, named Lylith Byers, that was speeding down that road 30 years ago with her newborn baby in the passenger seat. She crashed off the side of the bridge, resulting in the drowning of them both. The baby’s body was never recovered. Now, teens park on the bridge, turn off their cars and listen. If they hear the baby’s cries in the night, it means Lylith is close by, searching for her child. If the teens are unluckyenough to see the ghostly apparition of the grieving mother when they turn on their headlights, it means they are now marked for death and will suffer a gruesome fate in the near future. These two unfortunate teens just happened to run into Lylith that night. Only one survives. Our story jumps a year ahead and we meet Chris Turner. His father has recently passed, and now he’s been sent to live with the mother he barely knows , Sheriff Sara Turner, halfway across the country. Starting a new school, having to make new friends and living in a new home has the teen on edge. His life now turned upside down, all Chris wants is to get through his last year of high school and head off to college on his basketball scholarship.   After a rough start, Chris eventually meets a new girlfriend, Cora. She introduces him to her friends, Richard, Eddie, Porter, Trent and Taylor. Chris’ new friends want to show him a good time and decide to take him to Crybaby Bridge. There, the teens unwittingly summon the ghost of Lylith, marking themselves for death. Porter is the first to die that night after he gets home, setting off a confusing police investigation by Sheriff Turner. Eddie is the next one to go during a school basketball game. Richard and Cora frantically conduct some research and discover that the legend of Crybaby Bridge is real! Lylith was a real person. She was actually a teenager from a nearby town that died in a tragic accident on the bridge. Chris, Cora, and Trent, decide to visit the only person to survive an encounter with Lylith…one of the teenagers from the beginning of the story. They make their way to a mental health facility not too far away to speak with the traumatized teen about her ghostly encounter. Meanwhile, Richard, tasked with keeping an eye on Taylor, tries his best to keep his friend safe at school but fails as Lylith kills her in the school pool. Tent is killed at the mental health facility while Chris and Cora search for answers on how to stop Lylith. They learn the only way to break the curse of Crybaby Bridge is to find out what happened to Lylith’s baby all those years ago. In order to do that, the teens must find out what they can about the baby’s mysterious father. They decide to pay a visit to Lylith’s childhood home, which has since been abandoned. There, they learn of Lylith’s best friend from high school and how she was run out of town by the previous sheriff, Chris’ grandfather, for having information about Lylith’s death.   Chris and Cora discover that Lylith crashing off the side of the bridge was no accident. Her death was a result of being chased by someone. The teens start putting the pieces together and all the clues are pointing to Lylith’s killer being Cora’s father, Principal Little, who dated her in high school. Sheriff Turner learns that Chris and Cora are on their way to the bridge to confront who they believe to be Lylith’s murderer. She grabs Richard and heads for the teens. During the group's meeting on the bridge, truths are revealed and the real killer is exposed. Principal Little didn’t kill Lylith…Sheriff Turner did! Now Chris and Cora must find Lylith’s baby, bring the sheriff to justice, and set things right before Lylith kills them all.
