Synopsis/Details
Dark Moments is a family drama about a cynical SFPD cop with self acceptance issues, who has started to have violent visions of murdering his girlfriend. After being promoted to Detective he tries to set aside any distractions and do what it takes to be a success in the eyes of his family, however the increased stress only makes the urges more intense and harder to ignore. With the added pressure of a possibly corrupt superior and suspected family involvement, he becomes a ticking time bomb and must get to the root cause of his demons before he can no longer stop himself from acting on them. Dark Moments will explore themes of trauma, self-acceptance, family and mental health issues in men. WHY THIS SERIES? This is not just about the intense suspense of a man on the verge of killing his partner. Ignoring mental health issues that then deteriorate is a huge problem in men and to see this manifested in a policeman is interesting. While I had the idea after a relationship with a policeman in 2018, I think the timing is now controversial, who today wants to identify with a while male cop? But we are all human. It's that opening up of a perspective we don’t talk about, showing what this character is dealing with and why, that makes this distinct right now. Other relevant angles to this can be explored in further episodes.
