Synopsis/Details
Dazzleland is like any amusement park: a thrill ride of scary, funny, unexpected and exhilarating twists,
sudden drops, scares and laughs. Unlike most amusement parks however, Dazzleland is full of ghosts and
their secrets, and they’d like to keep it that way. These earth-bound spirits, whether dead for a day or for more
than half a century, retain their humanity, egos, jealousies, wit and proclivity for petty bickering.
Claire, one of the many ghosts who call the derelict amusement park home, uses her mystical Nickelodeon to
foresee the coming of a dangerous new resident and the park's imminent destruction. Luckily for her, she can
become corporeal and try to do something about it. Ironically, the death of the perceived bad guy, Neal, offers
up a new romantic possibility for her.
The living souls in the nearby town, including some new-comers, are drawn to the park for various reasons,
including looking for clues to Claire’s decades-old murder. Consequently, Claire must forge an alliance
between the living and the dead in order to save her home and bring her murderer to justice.
Ep 1 – RIP Neal:
Claire looks in the Nickelodeon and sees images of herself and the boy who killed her decades ago. She then
sees another image of a stranger coming to tear down her beloved park. Neal has been given his big break at
work – travel to the decrepit old amusement park, Dazzleland, and assess the property for imminent
destruction. His boss, and the boss’ daughter, have put a lot of faith in Neal to get the job done. But Neal
makes the fatal mistake of picking up a hitchhiking ghost, Claire, who ultimately leads to his gruesome death
right outside the park gates. Now Neal is the newest resident in a park occupied by ghosts. The funny and
charismatic Sheriff Clapton investigates while Claire confesses to Big Molly, the ghosts’ de facto leader, that
she indirectly caused Neal’s death. Neal is confused and angry at finding himself dead. He clashes with many
of the other ghosts in his attempts to free himself from the park.
Overview Season 1:
The first season deals with two main arcs: Neal’s battle with, and eventual embracing of, his new lot in “life”;
and the mystery of why developers have a sudden interest in tearing Dazzleland down, e.g.: clues to solving
Claire’s murder. When Neal’s widowed fiancée, Danielle, comes to town she becomes one quarter of a bizarre
love rectangle with Neal, Sheriff Clapton, and long-dead Claire. Together they are all instrumental in finding
out the truth about Claire’s murder – two using conventional means of sleuthing, while the others get help
from a supernatural Nickelodeon.
