Synopsis/Details
Lost treasure, ancient curses and the long arm of the law. More valuable than the Maltese Falcon, more cursed than the tomb of King Tut can the Death Cross Of the Inca be possessed? Is it worth it? Professor Rick Blane and Kate Forte will risk it all to find out. Ancient treasure stolen from the Inca, lost at sea for hundreds of years, is found by the world famous Slava Dive Team. Everyone is claiming ownership of the treasure, yet no one is the rightful heir. Spain, the US, Florida, Peru, even Inca tribes are suing in international courts. The case will be tied up in litigation for years. Rick and Kate, a New York couple, are tired of being robbed and victimized by New York City. Rick lands his dream job; History Professor at Florida Oceanic University. They leave a cold, dreary New York City and move to beautiful, warm and sunny St Augustine, Florida. Here Rick learns of the fabulous treasure and recently discovered sunken flagship of Francisco Pizarro. Filled with stolen, ancient riches from Peru and the famous Death Cross of the Inca, it is both archeology and treasure hunters find of the century. Detective Sloan, head of security at the university, is a disgraced NYC cop and is jealous of Rick’s success. Sloan begins a relentless campaign of harassment against both Rick and Kate; they are under near constant surveillance. Sloan is waiting for that one misstep that will send Rick packing back to NY. Thieves steal Rick and Kate’s computers, hack their finances, leave them on the verge of bankruptcy and hopelessly in debt. While the courts, international governments and Inca Tribes fight over ownership of the treasure, Rick decides to take the cross for himself. With the help of Kate’s techno wizard cousin, Brano, a weird middle-eastern genius, they hatch a plan to steal the cross, take it to Rick’s best friend, the Rabbi, and sell The Cross in the NY Diamond district. If you want to make god laugh, tell him your plans. Be careful what you wish for, all who own the golden idol die. In the end of this witty romp, they find, true love is all that matters. Beware, the Death Cross of the Inca
