Logline:
Prejudged by society, the owner of a sleazy motel races to stop a terrorist plot and show the world that he is more than the sum of his past.
Synopsis/Details:

RAY OLSON is the proprietor of a run down, rent by the hour motel. Caught in a technicality years ago, he is now viewed by both law enforcement and Society in general as a sex offender, and running the hotel is the only livelihood he can find. But Ray is no saint, and he uses his motel to film much of the illicit activity that occurs under its roof.

In particular, PETE COLSON, his parole officer, and Detective JAKE WALKER have it in for him. They are convinced that the motel serves as a front for illegal activity. And while they are correct, they can’t seem to catch him at it. So, Ray continues to film his guests, and sells the resultant product to CRYSTAL, a woman who has quite the crime empire of her own. Ray and Crystal have an on again, off again relationship, that gives Ray a soft spot in her heart.

All is working according to plan for the two of them. Crystal helps keep Ray afloat financially, and he records his quests for her. Until one day, three rather suspicious men check in. Ray is used to the types of guests that he gets. But these three make him uncomfortable. But in his line of work, one can’t be picky.

The men set up operations in the motel, using it as a base to plan a terrorist attack against the local high school on the day of the state football championship, and make it look like others were responsible. What they don’t know, is that their very plans are being recorded. Ray begins to figure out what they are up to, and even gets video evidence.

Ray finally puts the pieces together. He has gathered enough evidence, but that is when Pete crashes the party, finding out what he is up to. Ted, being aware that Ray was getting too close, calls the police to turn in his voyeuristic operation. And unlike Jake, Pete wants to arrest Ray and throw away the key. Ray has no choice but to run to save himself, losing all the evidence in the process.

Jake doesn’t have many friends. Crystal is one he can count on, and he realizes that the uneasy truce between he and Jake may help him as well. He realizes that to save himself, he needs to get the proof of the terrorist plot, using it as a barging chip for his freedom.

Unfortunately, Jake is not giving up, and they finally discover his secret recording room. He has been frustrated by his inability to move up in the ranks at the police department. He becomes interested in what Ray can do for him, giving him information that he can turn into easy arrests.

In the meantime, the plot continues. But a couple things become clear. First, someone other than TED, DIRK and BRIAN are orchestrating this. And second, Ted, as the ringleader, has his own agenda, and is setting up a different attack then what the others think. He wants to make it appear that Muslim extremists are behind it all.

In spite of his best efforts, Ray is caught. In interrogation, he tries to tell the police about what he has found. But Pete has a personal vendetta against Ray and has no desire to see him freed. Jake however has started to believe Ray, or at least, is concerned about the ramifications of not trusting his story. He helps Ray to escape, allowing him a chance to prove his story.

Ray turns to his rag tag group of friends to help clear his name and stop the horror from occurring, along with Crystal, he employees his old prison cellmate MORRIS and Crystal’s right hand man ALLEN. While the aren’t exactly the Avengers, they are the only ones who seem to want to do the right thing.

Unfortunately for Ray, Ted spots Ray in the open as he is heading to meet Jake with what evidence he can recreate and decides to take matters into his own hands. A chase ensues, with Ray barely escaping. He turns the data over to Jake. Convinced he has done his job, he leaves, happy. Not realizing that Jake is not who he seems, and not seeing him destroy the evidence.

Pete is understandable irate when he learns of the events of the evening. He talks to his son TREVOR, who is going to be playing at the state championship game. And while Ray thinks he is done, Crystal is not so sure. She continues to look for the tell-tale Caddie that they know the terrorists are driving. Finding it, they pull Ray back, reminding him that Society has given up on him, and that if he wants redemption, he has to really see this through.

Ray and his band try to stop the terrorists themselves, which proves disastrous. Captured, along with Pete who thinks he finally has Ray, they face death, only to learn that Jake is actually the mastermind behind it all. Driven by his obsession to be viewed as a great detective, the whole thing was staged to allow him to be the hero. Jake realizes now that he has his patsies, with Ray being the perfect fall guy.

The three terrorists and Jake get into an argument about the plan, and Brian ends up killing Jake. Now they are free to go ahead with their plan, blowing up the stadium and blaming the extremists that they hate. All that is left is to remove the witnesses.

Ted and Dirk leave to carry out their plan. A fight ensues, and Ray overcomes Brian. He and Pete race to the stadium to stop the carnage. Meantime, Crystal enlists the police to back them up.

At the stadium, they find the bomb. Knowing that he has no time, Ray takes the bomb and runs to Ted and Dirk. It explodes, killing all three. Ray has sacrificed himself to save everyone else.

The story ends with Jake having a hero’s funeral. Nearby, Crystal and Pete are alone at Ray’s grave. No one came for him. No one knew his story. But they know. And that’s what really matters.
