Synopsis/Details
Gladys Burke is an intelligent, sometimes fragile young woman trying to figure it all out. She struggles with the misogynistic attitudes and uneven playing field of the early 1970s. After losing her job and her boyfriend, Gladys joins a fledgling Roller Derby team and her life takes off. Along with two girlfriends, Gladys quickly finds her place on a rowdy, roller derby team. As her confidence with the team grows, she begins a new job working for a small trucking company. We watch her navigate these two worlds as she becomes determined to improve her life and get back together with her ex-boyfriend. We watch her stumble a few times but she always perseveres. The team continues to win and miraculously find themselves in the championship match. Gladys battles head to head with her nemesis and they win the championship. Not only does she win her boyfriend back but the company she works for promotes her to management and she finally feels that she’s hit her stride.

The Writer: Patrick Norman

I was born and raised in San Mateo, California, and feel lucky to have been surrounded by more than a couple amazing storytellers. This early exposure drew me to the art of screenwriting. I've been writing since 2011 and still having fun. I hope you enjoy these stories. Go to bio
