Synopsis/Details
DUST ON DIRT
The dry brush-covered Otay Mountains turn brutal in midsummer – the perfect place for two sadistic Border Patrol Officers to toy with their next victim. When they kidnap Raquel, a hardscrabble burger-slinging student, and abandon her in the scorching wilderness for sport, they don’t expect her to make it far. Why should they? With a heatwave on the way, only drugged water to drink, and a GPS tracker locked on her arm, Raquel’s as doomed as any girl chained in a basement. Sure, her kid sister Shielle will report her missing. But like her kidnapper Stanley says - ‘Keep clear of the blue-eyed blonde white girls and it’s all good.’
It’s always worked before.
This time, they got the wrong woman. As Shielle turns to social media to hunt for her sister and shame the cops into action, Raquel manages to rid herself of the GPS tracker and sets out in search of water. She finds a damaged water station – and Troy, a smuggler who can’t shake off his past. He offers help – but when a white-knuckled roadside encounter reveals his connection to her kidnappers, Raquel sets out alone to lure them to their deaths in a remote ravine. When her plan goes wrong, she’s caught up in a deadly standoff where both she and Troy must choose who to trust – and who to kill.
