Rodrigo Baumgartner Ayres was born on October 25th, 1985, in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. A bachelor in advertising, Rodrigo moved to NYC in 2013 for a post-graduate program in filmmaking at the New York Film Academy. His directing career began when his first short films were accepted into local NYC festivals in 2014. Later in 2015 he directed his first feature film called 'Winter Has No Sun', and also his most acclaimed short film 'Felices Acá en New York (Happy Here in New York), which was accepted into several NYC festivals and earned him his first awards.
